Excellence began as an idea – that the time had come to reform mental health care.

Today, we help all who are involved with mental health care by identifying the most promising initiatives and supporting change wherever it leads to excellence.

As an international community foundation, we connect visionary donors with independent researchers and innovative, recovery-focused program developers. With donor-advised funds, Excellence gives serious philanthropists a place to bring new ideas to life and to invest with confidence in a new vision of excellence in mental healthcare.

Together, we are working toward a day when

Together, we support and educate

individuals and families about mental health, trauma and psychiatric diagnoses such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar, anxiety, ADHD, addiction and others. We strengthen effective psychiatric rehabilitation approaches like peer support and Individual Placement and Support (IPS). We connect the top researchers, practitioners and thinkers in psychiatry and psychology, giving them a forum and an audience.

    Film translation provides information worldwide

Filmmaker Daniel Mackler has completed the translation of his three documentaries, Take These Broken WingsHealing Homes and Open Dialogue into twenty languages. The films tell of three approaches to mental health recovery that use neuroleptic drugs as sparingly as possible. Before this work, many of these languages had little or no information available on mental health recovery. View Project
